The confirmation of the validity of this food model is more than numerous, to understand what our adherence level is, just answer the questions of this test
Hardly a day passes without new evidence coming in to support the validity of the Mediterranean food model and its links with a better state of health and a longer life span. Two recent studies confirm this. A meta-analysis just published in the British Journal of Nutrition, which combined the data collected from seven prospective studies, indicates that the increased adherence to the Mediterranean diet is associated with reduced mortality in a sample of elderly. In the second study, however, published in Sleep and conducted on more than 2 thousand Americans, a greater adherence to the Mediterranean diet was associated with a more adequate duration of sleep, a factor considered important also for cardiovascular prevention. Faced with results like these, one may wonder whether, and to what extent, our diet can truly be considered "Mediterranean".
