"Heart attacks, Mediterranean diet as effective as drugs"

That of following a healthy lifestyle, with a diet that prefers fish, fruit and vegetables to fatty and processed foods, can no longer be considered a simple accessory tip: for people at risk of heart attacks, the Mediterranean diet is a weapon as effective as statins, among the most prescribed drugs for cholesterol control.

Eating healthy, quitting smoking and carving out time for pleasant physical activity can be as effective as starting a drug therapy to reduce "bad" fats. It is the conclusion of a British study published in the medical journal Prescriber.
