"Mediterranean diet, extra-virgin medicine for the heart"

  • Saturday, November 24 2018

The extra virgin olive oil is elevated to the dignity of medicine to prevent heart attacks and other heart diseases in the United States, in contrast with those who would like to brand it with black stamps and red lights. This was stated by Coldiretti on the sidelines of the Campagna Amica initiative (www.campagnamica.it) showing the invitation published by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to indicate on the packaging of oils (those containing at least 70% oleic acid) that the their consumption brings benefits to the cardiovascular system when it replaces the saturated fat harmful to the heart. Here is another statement of the Mediterranean diet.
